System Roles

Submitter: This actor will gather the clinical content related to the birth defect to prepare and transmit a FHIR bundle according to the IG specifications.

Receiver: This actor will receive the FHIR bundle, validate it and process it.

Third Party Backend App: This optional actor may extract data from a data source (eg. An EHR via FHIR APIs) and format and transmit the FHIR bundle (ie. the MedMorph/eCR Now model)

Scenarios

Scenario 1 Submit Birth Defect Report (non-birthing)

Action: Submit a minimal birth defect report consisting of data on the patient, birth defect (and associated confirmations) and related persons. No birthing information is expected

Precondition: The relevant patient information has been entered into the sending system

Success Criteria: A FHIR bundle can be produced and consumed by the recipient

Scenario 2 Submit Birth Defect Report (birthing)

Action: Submit a birth defect report consisting of data on the patient, birth defect (and associated confirmations), related persons and observations related to the pregnancy/labor/delivery

Precondition: The relevant patient information has been entered into the sending system

Success Criteria: A FHIR bundle can be produced and consumed by the recipient

Scenario 3 Submit Birth Defect Report (stillborn)

Action: Submit a birth defect report consisting of data on a stillborn delivered entity, birth defect (and associated confirmations) and related persons

Precondition: The relevant information has been entered into the sending system

Success Criteria: A FHIR bundle can be produced and consumed by the recipient
