HL7 Antitrust Policy

Professional Associations, such as HL7, which bring together competing entities are subject to strict scrutiny under applicable antitrust laws. HL7 recognizes that the antitrust laws were enacted to promote fairness in competition and, as such, supports laws against monopoly and restraints of trade and their enforcement. Each individual participating in HL7 meetings and conferences, regardless of venue, is responsible for knowing the contents of and adhering to the HL7 Antitrust Policy as stated in §05.01 of the Governance and Operations Manual (GOM).

Workflow Update (John Hatem)

  • - no meeting this week

Healthcare Product Update (John Hatem)

  • -  reported that Pharmacy will use the Device to parent Device relationship, where Device will be used to represent the Port/lumen e.g. distal; and parent Device will be used to represent the triple lumen catheter.  I have three outstanding questions back to O&O:
  1. What element in Device should we use to specify the port/lumen?
  2. What element in Device should we use to specify the triple lumen catheter?
  3. If we needed to specify the gauge of the lumen/port, which element in Device would we use?  and which resource should we do this in?  the Device where the port/lumen is specified, or in the parent Device?
