Catalogue Project

    • primary focus is on lab at this time

    • Reviewed Catalog FHIR IG on Jan 17 conference call

      • There will be areas in the Catalog IG that Pharmacy will contribute to
      • Suggest setting up a time to have Catalog meet with Pharmacy on one of our conference calls
    • Discussing a For Comment ballot of this IG, possibly in May, 2020

Healthcare Product

    • Early work set boundaries
    • updating definitions to defining when different resources should be used
      • establishing "patterns" 
    • Last meeting was on Dec 16th from my minutes.  During the meeting the following topics were discussed: 
      • Blood Administration and how to model it: the suggestions were to either create a new resource or to use a profile on Procedure or Medication Administration
        • Meeting to be setup with OO, RX and PC to discuss this topic
      • Another discussion was whether we should create a "pattern" and assure that similar resources are all modelling the same type of requirements the same way
      • Last topic discussed was how to update documentation to guide users of the FHIR resources when to use Device, Device Definition and Medication - specifically for a pharmacy use case, where the device may include a medication.

NCPDP Updates

  • Specialty Medication Prescribing PSS update
    • Has been forwarded to PMO and USRSC

      • The goal of this project is to create a co-branded FHIR implementation Guide (Co-branded between HL7 and NCPDP) focused on the exchange of data (Demographic, prescription, clinical and financial) for dispensing specialty medications by pharmacies as well as facilitating enrollment of patients in programs offered by third parties such as but not limited to Hub vendors and Pharmaceutical manufacturers.

        If there are NCPDP code sets are present used in the implementation guide, examples will be provided in guide content.  To access the full code set, user must purchase a NCPDP membership.  Use this link to obtain a NCPDP membership and access to the full code set. , but users will need to purchase an NCPDP membership in order to access the full code sets.

        Attached are some examples of elements from different resources we intend to use as well as the background information used to review this project with the Patient Care and Orders & Observations work groups. This FHIR implementation guide will use  uses the US Core profiles. If this FHIR implementation guide is unable to use a US Core profile, we will request approval from the US Realm Steering Committee, and provide the US Realm Steering Committee an approved rationale for deviation in the implementation guide where applicable.

        • how should this be handled - may need to make comments not persuasive

The discussion involved issues ranging from individual ballot items to a long discussion about whether there should be a decision about whether to just use Submission Method or Process Message.  Please refer to the ballot comments spreadsheet for resolution status of ballot items. The discussion will continue next week.
