  • Recap of last week's minutes (since Becky posted them just prior to this meeting)
  • Della walked us through her use case: Added fluid, calorie, and protein, but broadened it so that other nutrients could be captured
    • The introduction talks about nursing capturing intake, but this could also be done by nutrition services, such as a dietetic technician, registered (DTR)
  • Lesyle walked us through her use case
    • MNT with education and looking at specific nutrient recommendations
    • Documented both how a patient would record intake related to their nutrient specific recommendations and how a dietitian would document a patient's intake related to nutrient specific recommendations
  • Reviewed the nutrition landscape and added more components
    • Adaptable equipment: could be in service request or in device request as a companion of the order or included in administrative instructions in NutritionOrder; V2 it was both ways. Was added as a use case in V3 model
    • Characteristics of a food (e.g. organic, kosher, etc.): this ties into GS1; bar coding comes in here and could also tie in to representing household purchases for SNAP
    • Questionnaire / Response
    • Goals
  • Discussion around Energy Expenditure:
    • If captured in an inpatient setting, it is likely an Observation
    • If captured in an outpatient setting, it maybe part of NutritionIntake if done as part of the Nutrition Assessment
  • When creating the data elements for NutritionIntake, an element to indicate the reason why intake/food was not administered (i.e. refused food, didn't like flavor, spilled, etc.) needs to be included
  • In order to think about utilizing the nutrition care process (NCP) with FHIR, the group started listing the parts of the Nutrition Assessment (in which NutritionIntake might be used) on the third slide; in the future, these can be mapped to where they might be found in existing FHIR resources
  • Yanyan will document a use case related to intake of breastmilk, including both mother's milk and donor milk
