Project Information

The HL7 Health Services Reference Architecture (HL7-HSRA) aims to support the design of medium/large scale eHealth architectures based on HL7 services and standards.

Building Enterprise Service architectures requires an understanding of composite solutions that include different services organized in choreographies and/or orchestrations that cover many areas within medium to large-scale organizations. The intent of the HL7-HSRA is to support the process of architectural design with a map of building blocks and solution patterns based on existing HL7 Standards.

This project organizes HL7 completed Service Functional Models, Functional Profiles, and Domain Models into:

  • a formalized Enterprise Service Inventory
  • an Architectural Patterns Catalog
  • associated methods for enterprise Service discovery and orchestration

The role of specific technology/standard service implementations (FHIR, OMG/HL7 Soap services, IHE XD* family) will be discussed.

The audience of the HL7-HSRA will be principally focused on architects and CIOs that need to design, plan, and evaluate enterprise-wide solutions for complex organizations.

However, the project is also relevant for the internal HL7 audience. The HIRA outcome verifies the consistency of the HL7 standard and potential areas not fully covered or with relevant overlapping. The Pattern Catalog can also support the mapping among different HL7 standards for the behavioral aspects (e.g. V3-CDA2-FHIR)

The project use OMG Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) as modeling language and NAF 4.0 (UAF based) as a framework.

v0.6

(draft)

December  20, 2018

This model (draft 06) represents the main contents included in HSRA

The model is derived from OMG-Structured Patterns Metamodel (SPMS) Standard-v1.2 and OASIS-Reference Architecture Foundation for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA-RAF) v1.0.

See HSRA SOA WG / ArB Update (20-12-2018) for details.
