What is it:

The Data Elements for Emergency Department Systems (DEEDS) was originally conceived by the CDC as a set of standardized terminology for Emergency Department Reporting to external agencies. In 2013, the Emergency Care Workgroup of HL7 update and revised DEEDS to align with current information systems standards.

Why was it created:

DEEDS is intended to provide a repository of standardized terminology to support secondary use of ED information

How can it be used:

DEEDS serves as the terminology layer for EDIS reporting, interoperability  of ED information and for development of related FHIR
