Antitrust Statement

Professional Associations, such as HL7, which bring together competing entities are subject to strict
scrutiny under applicable antitrust laws. HL7 recognizes that the antitrust laws were enacted to promote
fairness in competition and, as such, supports laws against monopoly and restraints of trade and their
enforcement. Each individual participating in HL7 meetings and conferences, regardless of venue, is
responsible for knowing the contents of and adhering to the HL7 Antitrust Policy as stated in §05.01 of
the Governance and Operations Manual (GOM).

NOTE: This attendance applies if you are present at the related meeting/call, regardless if you have signed a different attendance for your WG.

WGM Meeting Requests:

http://www.hl7.org/Events/MeetingPrep/index.cfm

The proposed schedule of these new sessions may be seen here. => https://confluence.hl7.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=156534140.  Only Monday Q1 will be forbidden for WGs to meet. For other quarters, WGs are encouraged to examine the schedule of these sessions and, if the topic would be of interest to the members of that particular WG, forgo a WG session in favor of one of these new “WGM+” sessions.

Affecting Monday – Wednesday of the WGM week:

  • Monday:
    • Q1 = Keynote + general sessions, with parallel tutorial.  Therefore, no WG meetings Q1.  Arden therefore will meet Q2-Q4.
    • Q2-Q4:  Optional WGM+ general sessions and tutorials throughout the day.
  • Tuesday:  Overall theme = US Realm policy, featuring keynotes and tutorials throughout the day.
    • Q1 = Keynote from ONC about standards policy (USCDI, etc) + presentations about the Argonaut Accelerator and the Gravity Project accelerator.  WGs are “strongly encouraged” not to schedule during this session, but WG sessions will be allowed.  This keynote is one I think that CDS WG members may enjoy and find useful, so while we always have plenty to do, I wouldn’t mind cancelling the usual CDS session in favor of this WGM+ session.
    • Q2-Q4:  More keynotes, tutorials and general sessions, but nothing that would be sufficiently compelling to interrupt CDS WG sessions.
  • Wednesday:  Overall theme = global health, again with keynotes and tutorials throughout the day.  Q2 includes a keynote from CDC about FHIR use in public health that some may find interesting, and perhaps CQI would not schedule during that quarter, but I don’t see anything else compelling.
