Last week we covered the first 5 - X12 Claims/Remit questions and drafted responses.  We will roll to next weeks meeting and begin a #6.

This document can be located in PIE Documentation/Presentations:

#8  Yes, we see a benefit in supporting a dual use period of multiple versions of a standard for a like business function that is semantically interoperable. We would want to have a definitive sunset date within 2-3 years.

#9  Following X12’s paired transactions at the same version would be required. Impact with other transactions is unknown. As an example, Claims, Remittance and COB would need to be in the same version.

  • Specifically, if the provider and the first payer are operating at the elevated version level and the processed claim information needs to be sent to a third organization that is operating on the previous (non-backwards compatible) version, it is unknown the ramifications to the ecosystem.

#10  Consider answers for discussion next meeting.

Alternatives should be considered, since so many changes are needed for 8020 and it would seem necessary to implement.  The Rule making standards need to change because they cannot keep up with the latest technology.  Smaller changes should advance rapidly and would be easier to digest going forward after a major update.
