Lisa, Matt and Maria started by giving Jan an update on the HL7 meetings last week, in particular on the activity that impacted the our Patient Contributed Data workgroup. In particular, the work with PACIO on Advance Directives will move to a separate workgroup under a new PSS. We will still address related issues in the white paper to ensure there are contextual links between the work of the Patient Contributed Data white paper and the PACIO/Patient Empowerment Advance Directives work.

Jan then walked the team through some updates to the list of what is and what is not considered to be Patient Contributed Data. She’s been reviewing previous articles and definitions and expanding the list where it seems appropriate. This information is most readily viewed through the workgroup document. Key discussion points:

    • Patient Contributed and Device Contributed data may have some areas of overlap, given our current definitions.
    • The importance of provenance to determining whether data that has been in the custody of patients can still be considered to be sourced by the original medical provider.
    • Different definitions of “worksheets” within the EHR. One is included in the “is” and one in the “is not.”
    • Patient contributed data is both structured and unstructured.
