“De-identification” of patient’s data can be a strong tool to support the implementation of GDPR, whereas “anonymization” means “removing personally identifiable information (PII) from data sets, so that the people whom the data describe remain anonymous”, and “pseudonymization” refers to any kind of encryption of PII, where the original information can be restored under certain conditions. Anonymized data is no longer person related and therefore not bound to GDRP GDPR requirements.
