The Services Oriented Architecture Workgroup (SOA WG) supports the HL7 mission to promote and create standards by identifying common architectural "services" and their behaviors and establishing an industry position on the form these services take. Further details of the SOA WG's remit and responsibilities are in its Mission and charter. The SOA WG has an established working relationship with the OMG's Healthcare Domain Task Force (HDTF). Joint activities are conducted under the name Healthcare Services Specification Project (HSSP). |

The Healthcare Services Specification Project (HSSP) work as a virtual organization bringing together established Standards Development Organizations (SDO's) to collaborate and develop open service-based healthcare standards.
Comprising a community bridging Health Level Seven (HL7) and the Object Management Group (OMG), this effort takes advantage of the unique and compelling skillsets of each of these bodies to a maximally impactful outcome. With HL7's deep health informatics and interoperability expertise, combined with OMG's distributed systems and architectural expertise, HSSP brings the best of both communities together to the advantage of the health industry.
