Antitrust Statement

Professional Associations, such as HL7, which bring together competing entities are subject to strict scrutiny under applicable antitrust laws. HL7 recognizes that the antitrust laws were enacted to promote fairness in competition and, as such, supports laws against monopoly and restraints of trade and their enforcement. Each individual participating in HL7 meetings and conferences, regardless of venue, is responsible for knowing the contents of and adhering to the HL7 Antitrust Policy as stated in §05.01 of the Governance and Operations Manual (GOM).

    • Suggested disposition of Not Persuasive with Mod with an action to update the display names to align with SNOMED CT concepts
    • The existing definitions come from the August 2021 Gender Harmony informative document Gender Identity value set
      • We need the official SNOMED definitions to make sure they align with the informative document
        • John Snyder was tagged in the ticket
    • The FHIR Gender Identity value set does not include descriptions (only codes and display names)
  • V2-25450 - Getting issue details... STATUS
    • Recorded Sex and Gender (RSG) is still being discussed elsewhere
    • Suggested disposition of Not Persuasive because the table (HL70824) reflects concepts related to RSG, so they need to be in the table
  • V2-25451 - Getting issue details... STATUS
    • Wording which includes "sex or gender" is drawn from the source material
    • Rob McClure thinks that the use of this value set (concept) in general should be revisited (and potentially removed from all product families)
      • Assigning to Vocab for the larger discussion
