AJCC TNM

Discussion:

  • CM provided responses back to Patrick W
  • ST: The two may be one code system.
  • RM: AJCC and UICC may be different.
  • ST: https://seer.cancer.gov/tools/staging/ajcc-uicc-comparison.pdf
  • AM: There are differences between AJCC and UICC.
  • ST: "In 2017, the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) published their 8th edition. Unluckily several differences exist between both classifications."
  • RM: If possible, representatives from both groups should come together to get clarity on where they align and if they're two different systems. My going in assumption is there are two separate code systems.
  • ST: If a code (e.g. C50) gets a new meaning like in ICD-10 it is a new Code System and gets a new OID/URL (at least in Germany).
  • DV: Potential solution: We require both the coding system and the version be required in utilisation.
  • AM: SNOMED codes (1,010) for TNM staging is being removed at the request of the AJCC.

ICPC

Discussion:

  • CM: Need to know the places where things need to be e.g. THO, tx.fhir.org, HTA pages.

ISO-21089

ICD-10-GM

    • ST raised that the ICD-10-GM page has disappeared from the HTA's External Terminologies Information Pages. Reuben Daniels will investigate.

  • Call to co-chairs to review code systems was made at the beginning of October and they have until the end of October to make requests for code systems to be retained in THO that have not been previously registered with the HTA. The list is shown here
    • Responses to date include
    • From AMS
      • This note is written in response to the TSMG request that workgroups review the list of code systems not managed by the HTA and identify from that list the code systems which should be retained and brought under the HTA's management. The Public Health workgroup has identified the following codes systems from the list that should be retained:

        160

        Industry CDC Census 2010

        PHIndustryCDCCensus2010

        PHIndustryCDCCensus2010

        162

Codes for Race, authored and maintained by the CDC

        PHRaceAndEthnicityCDC

        PHRaceAndEthnicityCDC

The list is still under review; it is possible that additional code systems will be identified at a later date. We will also review the metadata associated with each code system and update the metadata as needed.

The PHWG agenda for 10/21/2021 includes further discussion on this topic with a primary focus on ODH vocabulary. If a member of the TSMG or HTA is able to join our call (details can be found here) it would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Updated CS Identifier process guidance

Continued from previousCarol

Out of time: item not discussed.

Next meeting is November 11th @ 11 am Eastern. We are almost through the core principles.

The draft is located here: Validating and Requesting Identifiers for External Code Systems and Identifier Systems

HTA members and observers are asked to review the drafted text, directly edit where changes are needed and use the comment functionality to ask additional questions. We will review again (and hopefully approve on the next HTA call, which will be at the WGM).
