2.TEFCA and Public Health Update (Mariann Yeager)
  • High level overview of TEFCA was provided
    • Mariann Yeager presented the high level overview
    • Dave Cassel took a deeper dive on the QHIN Technical Framework.  Key discussion points:
      • Framework defines how to exchange QHIN to QHIN and does not specify the content
      • Supportive of FHIR but first draft does not include FHIR for network to network exchange given the timing of the FHIR progress
      • USCDI minimum exchange requirement includes a clause if laws permit.  If public health does not need or permit all of the USCDI, wouldn't be expected to receive it
      • 42 CRF part 2 is not addressed in the framework
      • Public health is a priority for use cases
      • TEFCA is an opportunity for public health and public health participation is welcomed, reach-out to RCE@sequoia for more information
3.electronic Reporting and Surveillance Distribution (eRSD) and COVID-19 Reporting (Tim Morris and Rick Geimer)
  • eRSD and COVID-19 reporting overview was provided
    • Background of eCR project
    • Existing eCR Infrastructure
    • Purpose and implementation of eRSD
    • Discussed leveraging platform for birth defect reporting, further discussion to come
    • Discussed role of HIE, encouraged HIE participation
