Meeting Minutes from Discussion

Welcome, agenda review, meeting minute approval
  • No new agenda topics
  • Motion to approve minutes from June 27 (Craig Newman/AbdulMalik Shakir  (14-0-0))
  • Two PH co-chair positions (Laura's and Craig's) are up for election in September. If you are interested, please review the co-chair nominations requirements or talk to any of the co-chairs
    • The nomination deadline is July 26
  • Reminder that the September ballot cycle sign up is now open (PH has several documents up for ballot)
  • David Pyke is running for the Clinical Steering Division spot on the TSC. Our WG gets one vote
    • Motion to vote for David (Craig Newman/Sarah Gaunt (16-0-0))
    • Craig submitted the vote on behalf of the WG

eICR CDA IG Release 2 block 3 vote (Laura C) - 10 min

  • Block 3 for the eICR was circulated
    • Comments 20 and 64 were requested to be pulled in advance
      • These comments will be discussed at a later point in time
  • Motion to approve Block 3 (John Loonsk/Sarah Gaunt (15-0-1)
Harmonization proposal review (Craig)
  • Harmonization call happens on July 17th and 18th (if necessary)
  • All proposals are available at
  • Several of the proposals may be of interest to the PH WG but none seem problematic
  • One proposal is to add a new sensitivity code for pregnancy
    • Could this affect the vital records IG?
    • AMS indicated that the vital records IGs do include pregnancy information but we're not sure what (if any) impact this might have
    • Even sensitive data may still be considered for public health reporting
  • Motion to let Harmonization know that PH is OK with the proposals but we will attend the Harmonization call and have a question about the PH impact of adding a pregnancy sensitivity code (Craig Newman/Crystal Snare (14-0-0))
BSeR FHIR IG ballot reconciliation (AMS)
  • Previously pulled ballot comments.
  • ballotcomments_FHIR_IG_BSeR_R1_D2_2019MAY (version 2) expanded.xls
  • Several items were pulled from Block 5 because more granular dispositions were required
  • Motion to approve the pulled Block 5 comments (AbduMalik Shakir/Craig Newman (11-0-0)
  • Another block vote is being prepared for next week (may not be available until early Monday)
VRDR FHIR IG ballot reconciliation (AMS)
HAI LTCF CDA & FHIR Review (Dave/Sarah)
  • Healthcare Associated Infection (Long Term Care) has 2 IGs in progress (CDA and FHIR)
  • The CDA IG is very similar to the HAI (from hospital) reporting IG
    • This will be sent out to the listserv for review for approval to go to ballot next week
    • It's a relatively small document
  • The FHIR IG is a questionnaire based IG
    • It doesn't have any unique profiles (it reuses existing profiles)
    • It includes questionnaire instances
    • The link will also be sent to the listserv
    • FMG still has to review the FHIR IG proposal - this shouldn't be a problem though
