Short Description | The International Patient Access (IPA) Implementation Guide can serve as the common basis of different national/jurisdictional implementation guides. |
Long Description | The International Patient Access (IPA) Implementation Guide defines a minimal, base set of FHIR profiles specifically intended to be used as-is, or built on top of by countries or jurisdictions that are looking to enable patient access and patient-facing apps accessing data via RESTful FHIR. In addition to profiling a minimal set of FHIR resources, this IG also specifies the use of SMART on FHIR for authentication and authorization. Consider using this implementation guide as a foundational building block for national or regional FHIR base or patient access specifications, or for multi-national applications and FHIR servers. The specification also defines the required and recommend RESTful interactions include search parameters. During this Connectathon we will continue to validate the current specification and discussing and exploring future developments. Specifically, we intend to - Validate the specification with both server and client implementations.
- Continue comparing IPA against known national and regional FHIR base profile specifications.
- Strengthen cooperation and bindings between IPA and IPS (International Patient Summary).
- Discuss future developments.

Type | Test the IPA implementation guide, educate on the use of the IPA IG |
Track Prerequisites | There are several ways to actively participate in this track:
- Have an app that conforms to IPA? Bring it to test accessing IPA-compatible data from a server
- Have a server that conforms to IPA? Bring it to be tested by IPA-compatible apps
- Do you have resource instances that are IPA compatible? Bring them to test them using Inferno
- Do you have a specification that is produced by the IG publisher or Simplifier? Bring it to check how it differs from IPA, and discuss what differences are important, and what are acceptable.

Call for participants | Participate with your IPA-adherent servers, IPA-compliant clients, or compare your specification with the IPA profiles. We hope several implementations (both servers and clients) currently targeting any national-scale specifications to join and test their implementations against the specification and each other. |
