Summit 2019 was a Great Success!
On behalf of the Program Committee*, many thanks to all who participated in the first Cancer Data Summit on October 2 and 3 in McLean, Virginia. During this highly-interactive event, leaders from throughout the oncology ecosystem developed the roadmap for adoption of a common language for cancer data – mCODE™, the minimal Common Oncology Data Elements standard.
Patients, providers, payers, researchers, regulators, and vendors collaborated to explore the challenges and opportunities along the path toward ubiquitous use of mCODE for data collection and sharing, leading to step-change improvements in cancer care and research.
The event ended with recommendations for actions that we can take now, including actively engaging within the new CodeX HL7 FHIR Accelerator and mCODE Council. These recommendations and more are included in the Cancer Data Summit Summary, linked from the right side of this page along with other resources from the event.
We hope these materials inspire everyone to redouble efforts toward a common language for cancer data, with outstanding achievements to be shared at Summit 2020.
