Professional Associations, such as HL7, which bring together competing entities are subject to strict
scrutiny under applicable antitrust laws. HL7 recognizes that the antitrust laws were enacted to promote
fairness in competition and, as such, supports laws against monopoly and restraints of trade and their
enforcement. Each individual participating in HL7 meetings and conferences, regardless of venue, is
responsible for knowing the contents of and adhering to the HL7 Antitrust Policy as stated in §05.01 of
the Governance and Operations Manual (GOM).

Adapting Clinical Guidelines for the Digital Age Publication Series
I am excited to announce the publication of a series of articles related to the Adapting Clinical Guidelines for the Digital Age initiative. This supplement includes a CDC leadership commentary from Dr. Rebecca Bunnell; an overview of the initiative (including how all the different standards, processes, and tools work together); a new integrated process for co-developing written and computable guidelines; an evaluation framework for the integrated process; and an adapted Kaizen method for complex, multiorganizational process redesign. These are all open access, so please feel free to share widely with anyone who may be interested in any or all of these articles.
I will also mention that the primary standard that developed from this initiative, FHIR® Clinical Guidelines or “CPG-on-FHIR®,” is referenced within these articles and is planned to be balloted at Health Level 7 (HL7®) in January 2024 as part of its continued maturation as an international health data standard. The balloting process includes an open comment period, and anyone can submit comments (there are different processes based on whether you or your organization are HL7® members).
Thank you to all who participated in the Adapting Clinical Guidelines for the Digital Age and contributed to this work, especially to those who put in the extra effort in authoring these articles!
Without further ado, here are the citations and links to each of the articles in the “Adapting Clinical Guidelines for the Digital Age” journal supplement…

Coordination between EBM-on-FHIR/CPG-on-FHIR
EBM-on-FHIR Meeting Tomorrow Morning
EBMonFHIR EBM IG WG meeting at 8 am Eastern tomorrow: Join Microsoft Teams Meeting +1 929-346-7156 United States, New York City (Toll) Conference ID: 324 918 025#
There is an EBM-on-FHIR IG, ~70 profiles of 9 resources
Specifically, have developed a profile of Composition that is a Clinical Guideline. One of the sections of this Composition could potentially be a CPGRecommendationDefinition
Have developed an EBMRecommendation - want to create a RecommendationPlan profile that matches the CPG model, but the EBM-on-FHIR IG is R5
EBM-on-FHIR meetings will not take place the week of the WGM or the week after (won't be meeting again until the 25th)
