  1. Rationale:

    1. HL7 was/is not aspiring to follow any one methodology thoroughly, rather to develop a methodology that would fit the HL7 use case(s). Failure to reaffirm SAIF because it is not concurrent with any of the methodologies would be a mistake. The SAIF methodologies are in use and proving beneficial to the organization.
    2. Even if we were to adopt the ISO Interoperability Reference Architecture (and it were ready), that would be a layer on top of the existing material, if we understand Bernd's description accurately. A re-affirmation does not ask "should we change or update this standard", but "should it remain a standard", so Bernd's suggestion would be a whole separate project.
